Senator Agrees Judge Mangum's Decision Was "Terrible"

A commenter on this blog contacted Senator Neal Hunt using our Action Page, and received this reply:

"... based on the facts as I understand them I agree the judges decision makes absolutely no sense.

Deputy Republican Senate Leader"

And another individual received this reply:

"I agree, this was a terrible decision. Hopefully an appeal will reverse the decision.

Neal Hunt
Deputy Republican Senate Leader"

He's right. It is a terrible decision. But "hopefully an appeal will reverse" it?? What a cop out from a state official!! What is HE going to do about it NOW, before Venessa Mills' children are sent to public school and their whole lives disrupted by Judge Mangum's multiple-malignant orders?

Thanks for blogging about this. I am going to forward it on. I was home schooled and understand on some level. I still experience judgement even though I am in my late twenties and have established a successful life! The injustice done this woman is not just on a basic level. It attacks her right of religion and how she raises her kids. I beleive an argument could also be made for her freedom of speech. But what about womens rights? This judge is basically putting her in an intolerable position with this man. He does no wrong and she must obey. Give me a break. It's not the dark ages. Anyway thanks for what you are doing. I will pray and tell people about this.

Don't be fooled by what is written in this blog. I am a conservative Christian, I am a stay at home mom, and I fully support homeschooling. However, what has been written and posted here is a one sided and inflammatory view of this case. Before you jump on the band wagon in opposition to the judge's decision you need to find out the other side of the story. Ms. Mills and Mr. Mills feel equally strong about what they feel is best for their children, they both have what they believe are very valid reasons for what they feel. Both of them are very loving parents, and they are at an impass on this issue. Slander is ungodly and is being used to stoke the fire to get desired results. Neither party has MORE of a "right" to make the decision for the children than the other, so the judge HAS to make a decision and someone will be unhappy! Now that the decision has been made by the governing authority, if Ms. Mills is to live out her beliefs she needs to obey these scriptures: "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." Romans 13:1-2 NIV. Also: "Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, TO SLANDER NO ONE (emphasis mine), to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men." Titus 3:1-2, NIV. And "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men..." I Peter 2:13a NIV. There are more. The true Christian does not "pick and choose" which scriptures to obey by whether they like them or agree with them. The early Christians had "justice" systems that were corrupt, biased, godless, etc. and yet this was the instruction GOD gave to THEM! So...this is where the rubber really meets the road in Christianity. Will Ms. Mills obey THESE scriptures and show that her Christianity is true as she trusts that God is in control and is watching out for her children? Look at Joseph, for example, and how he was unfairly treated time and time again, yet God had a plan from the beginning! There are numerous other situations that GOD ALLOWED because He had a purpose in it! Whether the judges decision is the best or not is not the issue, and could be debated ad nauseum. He has decided and the scriptures say Ms. Mills is to OBEY the judges' authority because God has established this authority.

Anonymous: well, that was probably the saddest comment that has been left on this blog.

Acts 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!

Esther 4:16 "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."

Deuteronomy 16:20 Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Proverbs 29:7 The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

There are more. So, sorry, but since Venessa Mills can't "pick and choose" which scriptures to obey, what is she supposed to do? Do you have the divine appointment to decide which ones?

Not to mention that Venessa Mills HAS submitted to the authorities - she's done nothing illegal, immoral, or unscriptural.

God never meant for us to follow leaders that go against his teachings. I think we christians should go back an study using Greek and Latin to find out what God really says. A lot of things have been left out or misunderstood in the translation. Christians today think that we are to gather so we can feel good. Wrong. We are to serve God and what he teaches and fight against things that go against him. It time christians wake up! We are suppose to rise up against things that are against God and we the parents have a right to decide what is good for the children that we have borne and support. We need to stop being pew sitters and know GOD.
